The Blooming Marvel: Echinopsis Oxygona - The Easter Cactus at TechnoMagicLand

During this time of the year, it is a tradition to admire the inspiring blooming of the cacti in TechnoMagicLand's garden. The month of May is when the central reception area is filled with the scent of nectar, and visitors' eyes can witness the delicate blossoms of our cacti.

Echinopsis oxygona, also known as the "Easter cactus" or "Easter cactus," is a cactus species native to Argentina. It is widely popular among cactus and succulent enthusiasts due to its beautiful and vibrant colors.

Echinopsis oxygona has a spherical or columnar shape and can reach a height of up to 20 centimeters and a width of up to 15 centimeters. It develops a branching structure with numerous ribs adorned with white, brown, or dark green spines.

The flowers are a remarkable feature of this cactus species, which can be white, pink, red, yellow, or orange. Blooming is usually observed in spring and summer when the plant showcases an abundance of flowers.

In terms of cultivation, Echinopsis oxygona is relatively easy to grow in home conditions. It prefers bright light and can be placed near an east or west-facing window. It is important to avoid direct sunlight, especially during hot summer months, to prevent sunburn on the plant.

Regarding watering, Echinopsis oxygona is a seasonal plant and requires periods of active growth and dormancy. During its active growth phase, the plant should be watered regularly, allowing the soil to dry out between waterings. In the dormant period (usually in winter), watering should be significantly reduced to prevent root rot.

It is also important to provide well-draining soil for Echinopsis oxygona, as excessive moisture can lead to root rot. Specialized cactus soil or a mixture of sand, perlite, and coconut fiber can be used.

Echinopsis oxygona is an interesting plant for cultivation in home environments and can be further adorned with beautiful pots and containers. With its vibrant colors and unique form, it is an attractive choice for cactus and succulent enthusiasts.

The pink cacti in TechnoMagicLand have an interesting history. The first plant was purchased at the request of a 10-year-old girl named Eli in the distant year of 1969 from the Botanical Garden of the palace in Balchik. Through division, for over 50 years, she has built an extensive collection of cacti. Many of them have been given as gifts to friends and are grown in hundreds of homes, including the territory for curious visitors of TechnoMagicLand.

Earlier this month, Eli left this world. Over the course of more than 40 years of work, she established herself as an exceptionally successful engineer, constructing hundreds of buildings both domestically and internationally. The cacti and their impressive flowers will continue to impress with their beauty and fragrance, serving as a testament to an extraordinary career and an inspiring story.
